Doc'Time

Bridging the Healthcare Gap in Tunisia

At Doc’Time, we believe that quality healthcare is a fundamental human right, not a privilege. Inspired by the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the IFMSA Program for Ethics and Human Rights in Health (EHRH), we are an initiative dedicated to ensuring equitable access to medical and surgical care for all Tunisians.

Our

Mission

Patient-Centered Care in Action

Patient-centered care is the cornerstone of our work. It’s an approach that places the individual needs, values, and preferences of each patient at the forefront of every interaction. For us, this means more than just a philosophy, it’s a tangible commitment to action.

We embody this by:

Organizing Health Caravans:

Our three annual multidisciplinary health caravans travel to remote and underserved regions of Tunisia, bringing essential medical services directly to those who need them most, by turning local high schools into temporary hospitals. With over 12 medical specialties available, we offer free consultations, screenings, and essential medications, directly tackling the financial and logistical barriers that stand between people and their well-being. We are a lifeline, ensuring that no one is left behind in their journey to health.

Providing Continuous Follow-up:

We don’t just offer one-time care. We implement a robust tracking system to ensure that patients receive the ongoing support they need, including referrals, glasses distribution, and post-convoy surgeries. Anyone who needs surgery identified during our convoys will receive it for free.

Delivering Free Surgical Care:

Independently from our health convoys, our local free surgical initiatives in Sfax, address the critical financial and logistical barriers that prevent many Tunisians from receiving necessary surgeries. We provide life-changing operations at no cost, giving hope and a new lease on life to individuals who have been waiting for years.

Bridging

the Gap

The Problem We Address

In Tunisia, quality healthcare is often a distant dream, dictated by financial means and geographical location. Rural communities are frequently left behind, while even in major cities, the high cost of surgeries and overwhelming waiting lists in public hospitals create insurmountable barriers to essential care. Doc’Time was founded to confront this reality head-on, stepping in to fill this critical gap and transform lives.

Global

Goals

As a proud part of the IFMSA Program for Ethics and Human Rights in Health (EHRH), our work is a direct contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a shared blueprint for global peace and prosperity.

SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being:

We actively work to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all ages by bringing free medical and surgical services directly to those in need.

SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities:

We strive to close the health disparity gap by providing equitable access to care for marginalized and underserved populations, regardless of their location or financial status.

SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions:

We strengthen the healthcare system from the ground up by promoting ethical medical practices and ensuring fair access for everyone, contributing to a more just and resilient society.

Our

Impact

In the past year, our commitment to equitable healthcare has been demonstrated through our powerful outreach efforts. We have organized 3 medical and surgical caravans to serve needy regions, in addition to 1 local surgical caravan in Sfax. Our work is a testament to the power of collective action, bringing hope and healing to communities across Tunisia.
