HISTORY
Associa-Med is a student-run non-governmental, non-profit organization founded in 1989 at the Faculty of Medicine in Tunis. It achieved full membership in the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA) in 1999. Inspired by the spirit of unity and collaboration following our country’s revolution, an ambitious project was initiated in 2011 to make Associa-Med more active on a national scale.
1989
Where it all started!
Associa-Med was born on December 13, 1988, right at the heart of the Faculty of Medicine of Tunis! It was the first of its kind in Tunisia, bringing together medical students to connect, learn, and grow becoming a hub for future doctors nation wise.
1999
Joining the IFMSA
In 1999, Associa-Med joined the International Federation for Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA), becoming an active global player. Since then, it has grown into one of the most recognizable NMOs within the federation. This move strengthened its role in international medical education and collaboration.
2011
Creation of the national board
Since 2011, Associa-Med has expanded its presence across Tunisia, establishing four local committees in each of the country’s medical schools: Tunis, Sousse, Monastir, and Sfax. This growth led to the formation of a national board to better coordinate and unify the activities of these local offices.
