The Public Health Committee (SCOPH) of Associa-Med successfully led the “Let’s Beat Diabetes” project, a proactive campaign to combat the significant rise of diabetes, a major public health issue in Tunisia.
The campaign began with a crucial training phase on Friday, November 10, 2023, where volunteers were prepared for the upcoming awareness days. These trained individuals, or “SCOPHeros,” were then ready to educate the public, make the disease more understandable, and warn both the general population and those already affected about its often-unknown risks.
The project was then deployed across several free screening and awareness days:
- November 12, 2023, at the Cité des Sciences.
- November 14, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Morris Garage Tunisie in Charguia 1.
- November 19, 2023, at LAC0 and Centre Urbain Nord.
These events allowed for the screening of the public, including blood glucose and blood pressure measurements. Thanks to the active commitment of the volunteers, the campaign effectively encouraged early detection and highlighted the essential role of prevention in reversing the growing trend of this disease.
